The Ridiculous Raven
by
Rus
There was a great fluttering of wings
as the wobbly raven flew awkwardly
over the
castle. The king in the castle was fond of lions, so he caught a lion and
brought it back and put it in the court yard
to wander around and be free. The
raven stared
down on the lion with his huge mane swinging back and forth
beautifully
across his immense head.
"I wish I could be like that lion
with my mane swinging back and forth on
my head,"
sighed the drab raven. Then suddenly an idea swept through her mind.
She flapped
down to the lion and grabbed his hairs in his mane and yanked them
out. The
lion roared and the king ran out. Seeing the raven, he laughed so hard
that even
the lion was frightened! The raven was so startled that she dropped the
hairs and
flew away with great disappointment. By trying to make herself look
better, she
only made herself look ridiculous.
