Apple Orchard 2016 (Siobhan)

~Apple Orchard~

Whenever fall comes around, our family always makes a trip to the apple orchard. We love picking our own apples and enjoying them for snacks or making them into yummy apple crisps and apple dumplings. I didn't get too many pictures this year, but I hope you enjoy these...

Twins' 4 Month Update (Siobhan)

~4 Months~

Baxter and Cade are 4 months old! They do everything together; they even rolled over for the first time on the same day! They are constantly smiling and love snuggling with each other and with us. :)

With their hats, on we know they are identical twins! (Cade (right) and Baxter (left) )
They even blink together!

New England Regional Meal 2016 (Siobhan)

~New England Regional Meal~

We finished our first region in geography, and that means we did our first regional meal! This week's region is New England. As always, I took lots of pictures. Scroll down to the end for a link to all of our regional meal posts!

Our main course was our Dry Rub Pork roast. It was delicious! We made it in the slow cooker, so it was very simple to prepare. In the morning, we chopped some onions, put the pork on top, added the rub and let it cook all day until dinner.

These roasted winter root vegetables were delicious! They were also made in a crockpot.

This brown bread recipe was so easy (it's a no-yeast bread), and we loved it. I was worried about the batter consistency, because it was extremely runny, but it turned out fine. We spread it with butter and drizzled a little honey on top.

We made apple dumplings for dessert. We topped them with french vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce, caramel sauce, and whipped cream.

Happy 11th Birthday Aidan! (Siobhan and Aidan)

 ~Happy Birthday Rus~

It's hard to believe that Aidan is eleven already! Here is his description of his birthday:
Ethan and I put our money together and got a drone with a camera. The camera is very cool and it takes amazing pictures and videos. The drone can do flips, fly at two different speeds, hover, and it can fly over 300 feet high. I love playing with it. My birthday was really fun too! I went out with dad for my birthday lunch. I got a grilled chicken calzone. It was really big. I also got a game called can jam. You throw a frisbee at a can, and you get different points depending on where you hit. You can win automatically if you throw the frisbee through a little hole in the front. It's almost impossible to get it in though, so the other way you win it is by earning twenty points before the other team. Everyone played this game two days after my birthday. For my birthday dinner I had tettrazini for my birthday dinner. After that I had cheesecake for desert. I also went to the apple orchard and we picked apples. The apples weren't very big, but we had fun anyway. We also bought some apples at the apple orchard so we could have a taste test. I liked spencer the best.
Aidan loves Lord of the Rings right now. Some of his favorite gifts were this Lord of the Rings hat and Hobbit Shirt, and Ninja Sword.
Happy Birthday Rus!

Happy 6th Birthday Shaila! (Siobhan)

~Happy Birthday Filia~

We recently celebrated Filia's sixth birthday. She had a fun-filled day, including a family birthday breakfast and presents, lunch out with Mom and me, a trip to the mall, and a family party in the evening with a Frozen Cake I made for her. Here are some pictures...
Shaila went online to look at the Panera menu and picked out her birthday lunch: a huge hot chocolate with chocolate chip marshmallows and a chocolate pastry!
We went out to Claire's and picked out some new earrings, a headband, and this bow :)
Filia had a Frozen themed birthday two years ago, and she still loves the movie and all of the characters in it. Mom got her these dolls: OlafElsaAnna, and Kristoff.
I made Shaila this Frozen themed cake. It was a triple chocolate cake, with salted caramel buttercream, and caramel filling. I piped big dark blue rosettes on the bottom, icicles on the middle layer, and small light blue rosettes on the top. I accented the cake with some blue, white, grey, and purple sixlets, snowflakes and an Olaf that Ethan helped me make, Frozen dolls, and some homemade blue candy.
Happy Birthday, Filia! We love you so much!
