Happy Easter 2019! (Siobhan)

~Easter 2019~

I had such a wonderful Easter break! My roommate, Miriam, and I went home for the weekend. We had a belated birthday celebration for Miriam and enjoyed an amazing Easter dinner on Sunday. It was definitely a much needed time of rest before the craziness of finals!
Since Miriam didn't get to celebrate her birthday at Covenant, we celebrated with her! Mom made a beautiful gluten-free, dairy-free chocolate cake, and Ethan sketched a beautiful drawing of the two of us for her...
Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate on Friday for our family picnic, so we ate our sandwiches in the car and went on a wet trail walk. We still had a great time!
 Easter Eggs
Baxter loved decorating eggs. He keeps making the funniest faces during this video because he thinks I am taking a picture of him!
Next we made "Empty Tomb Rolls." These were so easy and fun
First we rolled out crescent rolls...
Then we dipped marshmallows in butter, followed by a cinnamon-sugar mixture. We put a marshmallow in the middle of each piece of dough and pinched the sides shut over the marshmallow.
We baked them in the oven at 350 for 15 minutes, and the marshmallows melted, leaving an empty roll, symbolizing Christ's empty tomb.
Easter Sunday was so beautiful! We were able to get a good amount of family pictures.

By far my favorite pictures are of these two! They have both developed such unique personalities, and it is so much fun to see them grow up together...

Brandan's Time Capsule (Siobhan)

~Brandan's Time Capsule~

One of the projects I did with Brandan before coming back to Covenant was his Kindergarten time capsule. Brandan cannot wait to start school this year. He has the most incredible, spunky, crazy, fun-loving personality and always knows how to make us laugh. He taught himself how to read and has informed me that he is going to be a pastor/storekeeper/chef when he is older :) I miss my little baking buddy so much and am so glad I got to spend this time with him before I headed back to school...

(And yes, I even miss the dozens of random selfies that you left on my phone 😂)
We couldn't do a time capsule without including a handprint!
We also found this Year 2018 page, which gives lots of fun facts like how much gas cost, who was president, what's happening in the news, and what's on TV
Brandan loved filling out his All About Me book
"I write with my WRITE hand"
We also did these All About Me Pages
"My birthday is July 20"
"My favorite things" and "My family"
His favorite place to do homework is "here", he learns best when "Mom teaches me" and this year he is going to work hard to "do soccer." Apparently he enjoys math '0!'
On the other hand, he loves reading, is really good at "spelling because I learned it" and when it comes to school the most challenging thing for him is "nothing because I am smart!"
He is looking forward to this year because of "school and Grandma." I told him he needed to tell me what he was going to write after he described himself in three words as "dumb, cool, jerk!"
In the future he'd like to "go to the moon!"
We usually finish up our time capsule by decorating it and adding a few fun memories in it like family pictures or a fun toy.
Thanks for doing your time capsule with me, Brandan! I hope you have an amazing Kindergarten year!
