Fun Afternoon... By: Stella

Hello Everyone! I write this post on Christmas Eve. We had a wonderful day yesterday, baking Christmas cookies and coming home to find a rather Christmasy looking package sitting outside our door... We hurriedly opened it to find these beautiful ornaments from our friends, the M Family!
I, being a picture-taking sort of person, flew for my camera and posed everyone in front of the tree! I hope you enjoy the pictures. :D

These CUTTEEE little penguins are for the boys! Leo's is red, Rus' blue, and Tert's green! :D

CRRRRRRRR-AZZZZY BOYS!!!!!!

Mrs. M also gave Filia and Me these PRECIOUS!!! little angels to add to the beauty of our tree! :)

A Day with Princess By: Stella

Filia has a pretty busy day:

When she wakes up in the morning, she is always eager to greet her siblings, although she is a bit groggy. Snuggles with Sis are very important....

After greeting her siblings she checks in the fridge to see what we might possibly have for breakfast. Hmm.....

LOL!!! Still a bit groggy! "Can you turn down those lights a bit?!"

Next she gets stylin' in one of the many dresses given to her from her admirers....
Aunt K, I wonder who had such amazing taste in dress?!?!?! :)

Then she does the dishes...

Now it is time for a little cleanup. Let's pick up all those letters...

Let's clean that glass....

Hooray! A new dress from Lyd!
Oh my! Is that a mess I see over there? She just can't stand messes! Cleanup is the first thing on the list for our little Filia. Some dress-up and showing off for cousins if they come, but then right back to cleanup!

Now it's time for a car ride, and some singing lessons...

Let's watch a little TV....

LUNCHTIME!!!
What's for lunch? OOO!! HOORAY! SMOOTHIES!!!

YUM-YUM!

No more pictures.... PLEASE!!!!

Changing into a new outfit: you're a mess!!!

Ready for Supper!

Now it's playtime again! Enjoy your playtime with Daddy and Tert...

One more song under the Christmas tree and then it's bedtime...

What a day!!

Goodnight Filia...

Tert's Quotes........

More laughs ahead of you....

We were talking all about living in our old house, where Rus was born. Tert was not born yet, and he was laughing and saying, "Yeah, I was 48, haha!"

I, Stella said: "No, Tert! You weren't born yet!" We all laughed and tried going into further explanation, but to no avail. He paused and said seriously, "Was I," (pause) "DEAD?"

Stella
: "I love you so much! You're so cute Tert!"

Tert
: "Yeah, you're right."

"Sissy you're gorgeous. I wanna marry you."

"Sissy, can you cutchet (crochet) me a purse and a wallet?"

"Mom, I love you SOOO much! Can I have a cheese stick?"

"
Sis, stop showing me those hospital bracelets."
"Why?"
"Because they make me smile a lot."
"Is that bad?"
"No, but they make me LAUGH a lot."

"Oh boy! I love my cousins! They're my sunshine!"

Fun Experiments.... By: Stella

Hello All! This is Stella, writing this blog with pics. Leo will be writing a post about the actual experiment that he tried with the eggs, but here are the pics. of these eggs holding up books! Can you believe it? Filia can't. :P The mother bird is heavy though, so the eggs need to be able to hold up the weight. However, I didn't think that they would hold up this much!

Here is what they are shocked at... :-O

WHOA!!!!!!!!!
The stack is getting higher and higher....

WOW!!! GOLLY!!!

Yeah, seriously.
WHOA!!! One (CRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRUNCH!!!!!!!!!!!)

I guess the eggs died... :)
(By the way, the eggs seen in this photo were de-yolked and whited. In other words, all the insides were dumped in the trash and then we put masking tape on the holes. That's why you don't see a HUGELY juicy mess.) :D
We had a ton of fun doing this experiment! Here is another one....

We took two eggs, one cooked and one raw, not knowing which one was which. We felt them and made a hypothesis. Then we spun them. The raw one was supposed to keep spinning, as the juices inside would keep rushing around, causing the egg to spin...

Mater, holding the two eggs in subject. Any guesses as to which is which!?

Time to spin them!!!
We made another hypothesis w/ the same results as before and then, with our breaths held, shakily cracked the eggs. To our shock, the egg we thought was cooked was really raw!
I learned about this in science, as the boys were learning about eggs. There are certain experimental variables that need to be controlled. But sometimes, the experimental variables can be used to our advantage as we perform experiments such as the previous one listed.
To illustrate my point, I'll use this experiment. One of the experimental variables is: Were we spinning the eggs at the same speed? If you think about it-say you're a 'righty', your left hand won't spin the egg as forcefully as your right hand will. Also, the eggs have to be the same age, as one might be much older than the other.
We might not have cooked the cooked egg completely, and we might have messed up something in the process of shaking them and spinning them, etc.

This shows how much scientists have to do to make sure that their experiments are perfectly designed, without these experimental variables getting in the way.

We had a lot of fun with these experiments and would like to thank Apologia for this post!!!

Pre-1st School By: Stella

Hello All! I have recently chanced upon a blog called:
http://www.confessionsofahomeschooler.com
It is a great site, with lots of free printables, downloadables, and purchaseables. :)
I like looking through the site to get some ideas, and then I sometimes make the stuff that is available for purchase, as I am doing some special activities with Tert and Rus in the afternoon. That's why I titled my post Pre-1st School, as Tert is in preschool and Rus is in 1st grade. :)
I have had a lot of fun putting together projects and printing stuff to do with them. They have a lot of fun doing things with me, and I with them! :D
I have below some pics. that I took of them working together, and little Filia joining in happily. :)
Enjoy:

This is a really cute game that I found on the site. The little ornaments, once cut out, were placed on the surface area as the game pieces. The boys had to roll the dice and if it was a 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6, they looked at their guide to see which ornament to put on the tree. If they had already put it on the tree, then it was the next player's turn. Whoever decorated their tree first won the game! They loved it and begged me to let them play it again...and again....and again...and.....
Adorable little opponents....

Priceless expressions! :D :D :D
Playing in the corner....

And the winner is: TERT!! :D :D :D

:D

Filia, joining right in!!!

'Diligent' little student :)

Yay!

I made these little flashcards, from 1-10 to help Tert learn his numbers. Tert can count to 10, but he can't recognize the numbers yet. I made a little hopscotch game out of it, calling out numbers for them to hop to, first calling them out in order, and then I called them out of order. Tert loved it, and it is really helping him learn his numbers. Yay!

Hopscotch 1-10!!!

Thanks to Erica, owner of the blog: http://www.confessionsofahomeschooler.com, who gave me these great ideas!

Thanks Erica! :)
