We are back to Regional Cooking Meals! This year we are doing World Geography, but because we didn't have an oven last year for some of the meals we are catching up this year on the ones we missed.
This month's meal was from the Midwest. We invited our cousins Lyd (http://www.lydscraftypage.com) and E over to help us make our meal ;-) We couldn't have done it without you guys!
This meal Mom mainly handed over to us. Oh my. Let's just say we started cooking at 1 P.M. and didn't get out of the kitchen until 6 P.M.! It was a huge process, but Mom came to our rescue and helped us correct some of the faulty recipes, rise our bread in no time, and gave us some helpful tips. (Thanks Mom!)
We DID end up with a very yummy meal, with some of our own special touches :P
Our Main Course was a Marinated Rib Eye Roast (topped with a sprig of garden fresh rosemary ;-) )
Next we made a Hot Potato and Pea Salad (very yummy!) This hot potato salad has potatoes, bacon, onion, flour, sugar, salt, celery seed (we skipped this one) pepper, water, balsamic vinegar, frozen peas, and garden fresh basil, oregano, and parsley!
MMMM! Here is the meal, complete with our Walnut Potica Sweet Bread topped with Whoopie Pie filling which melted onto it like frosting ;)
Then the whoopie pies, entirely homemade and topped with a chocolate buttercream frosting!
Here is one plate of our whoopie pies!
Below is the Walnut Potica Sweet Bread frosted...
