Hello All!
We enjoyed visiting with Mom's cousin, J, who came a couple days before Hurricane Irene raged up the coast. It was a wonderful visit!
We awoke on Thursday morning and bustled with preparation. Mom hurried with some last minute preparations for the meal that night and then we all hurried with cleaning. We swiffered, dusted, mopped, swept, vacuumed and washed. After laundry was put neatly in drawers and cleaning done, we wiped our sweaty, dirt-covered brows and smiled at our work. We washed up, had lunch, went to the library and enjoyed a quiet afternoon. Then we eagerly stood by the phone, waiting for a call. When we heard that J would be here at 6:30, Mom pulled out the things for dinner, smoothed the tablecloth, napkins, set out a vase of flowers and straightened the silverware. Then we waited. When we heard the car pull up the driveway, we peeked out the window. Sure enough, there was Grandma and J stepping out of the car. When we went to the door everyone greeted her happily. After not seeing each other in such a long time, it was a welcome visit. We then finished the last minute dinner preparations and sat down to the wonderful meal. There was Carnitas with sour cream, salsa, guacamole, guaca chips, (that make your mouth turn green and your hands as well) :D, raspberry feta salad and black bean corn salad with chocolate chip and banana muffins.
For dessert there was chocolate mousse topped with a dollop of whipped cream, a biscotti and a little chocolate swirl cookie. We finished and smiled. Everyone knew it would be a wonderful visit.
I won't tell of the whole visit-for that would make for a ridiculously long post-but I will write that we had a wonderful time and were sad to see J go, but excited for the prospect of a future visit-REALLY soon!!! :D
