Science Experiments by Rus - Fun with Chemistry and Physics
We have had a great summer, but now it is the school season and time to begin some science. It is fun to do the science course called "Exploring Creation with Chemistry and Physics." We are learning about chemistry and physics. We have already done a lot of fun things. We are learning about buoyancy, and we made boats for one project. We made some out of tin-foil, and we put coins in them to see which could float with the most weight. We also made some out of clay. They were fun to make. We also learned about matter, volume, and density, and we did experiments to see how water was displaced and how things could float. We were able to make a date float just by adding some salt to the water. Lots of salt. We also made lava lamps with colored vinegar and oil and Alka Seltzer. The seltzer made a reaction, and the bubbles rose through the vinegar and oil since they were less dense. It has been an awesome beginning of the school year.
