Minion Cake By: Siobhan aka Stella

Hello Everyone!
As most of you know, I absolutely love cake decorating. So, when Tert asked me to make a minion cake for his birthday, I immediately started browsing the internet. Most of the cakes were WAY out of my skill level, and I decided to just come up with my own idea.
This post will show you what I came up with. It is a really simple cake to make, but I love how it came out.
In case some of you don't know what a Despicable Me minion looks like, here is a picture:
So, I knew I couldn't get really complicated, because I didn't have much time, so I made a basic outline of what I wanted the minion to look like.
I also wrote what color I wanted the frosting to be.
First I took a big cheese tray and covered it really well with saran wrap.
Then I baked a chocolate 9x13 cake and I cut the top of it so that it was shaped like a minion.
Next I just frosted it (not neatly, but that doesn't matter, as you'll see in a minute) and I outlined my design on the cake with a toothpick. I froze the frosted cake the night before so that the base frosting was nice and easy to work with.
After that came the fun part: decorating. I decided to stick with stars, since these are easy and predictable. I did stars all down the sides as well so it would have a real 3D look. This is how it came out:
 Tert's minion!
