"A university [or homeschool] is an alma mater, knowing her children one by one, not a foundry, or a mint, or a treadmill." John Cardinal Newman

Order Brings Peace (Augustine) By: Megan
The evenings are cooling off, the crickets are chirping, and we are
becoming restless with long summer days and too much spontaneity.  Even
my Kindergartener agrees that it's time to get back to school. Sometimes
I wonder if my approach to home educating is too rigid, yet it
reassures me to see that even my little ones gravitate toward routine.
When sleeping in is an option, our home is still bustling by 6:30 AM,
and the joggers are out by 8:00.  My high schoolers use "rest time" to
work on creative projects and
pursue independent studies, and the younger ones hunt for  piles of
books. I have been grateful for these past three months
because they have given me the opportunity to catch up with a year's
worth of neglected home projects, reconnect with friends, and remind
myself why I've committed my life to homeschooling.  But now I'm ready
to embrace the challenge of teaching 5 grades and to see what our 11th
year at Alma Mater Academy holds in store...
