Lunch Break and Pond Water at the Boat Launch (Siobhan)

Lunch Break at the Boat Launch

I just found these pictures from earlier in the summer.
Not many people can spend their lunch break going out to a boat launch to collect some pond samples, but that is exactly what we did!
Leo and Elim have been doing Apologia Biology this year, and they were studying organisms that live in pond water. Elim, Leo, and I took all the kids and walked down the Northern Rail Trail (which is just a couple houses down our street) to the boat launch where we collected some samples of the water and took lots of pictures!
The Boat Launch!
Above (left) is a picture of our jars for the pond water cultures. One was pond water in straw, another in egg, etc.
(Later Leo and Elim made slides of all the different samples of pond water and looked at them under a microscope.)
While Leo collected the samples, the rest of us walked on the beach.
Little Lux is such a character! He takes after Tert with his silliness.

Rus' TaeKwonDo Class (Siobhan)

-TaeKwanDo-

Rus recently took a TaeKwonDo class through the Concord Recreation Department. He loved it!
I wasn't able to get pictures of his actual class, because Filia wanted me to watch her dance class. I did get some pictures of his uniform though, and one of his taekwando moves (see top picture!)
Rus learned so much in the class. He even got to be in a board breaking ceremony on the last day of class!
One of Rus' optional homework assignments was to learn to count to 20 in Korean. He did it, and he taught Little Lux as well! I got a video of the two of them counting! Blogger wouldn't let me upload it in one video, so I had to put it in multiple videos.
Here they are...

Filia's Ballet and Tap Class (Siobhan)

 ~Ballet and Tap~

Filia has always wanted to be a ballerina, ever since she first watched 'Angelina Ballerina.' She was incredibly excited to find out that she was going to be taking a ballet/tap class for her birthday. Mom and Dad enrolled her for a six class course through the Concord NH Recreation Department. She absolutely loved it, as you can tell from the pictures.

Filia requested a couple different types of 'ballerina buns.'
(These pictures are not great quality, because I couldn't use a flash, but they give you an idea of what the class was like!)
 Plies
Leaps!
We didn't know that the class was 20 minutes of ballet AND 20 minutes of tap, so Filia didn't have tap shoes for the first class. The teacher was so sweet about it, and she made Filia's 'tap' sounds for her (see above picture)
The second week Filia had her tap shoes. She absolutely loves them! She told me that she loves tap just as much as ballet.
Filia was very sad to see her classes end, but she loved them and is excited to take more soon!
