Oreo Layer Dessert By: Siobhan

~Oreo Layer Dessert~

This is a delicious dessert that I made for Mother's Day. It is very simple and perfect for any chocolate lovers! This recipe is adapted from The Brown Eyed Baker blog.

Ingredients

• For the Crust:
• 1 family size package Double Stuff Oreo Cookies
• 1/2 cup butter melted and slightly cooled
• For the Cream Cheese Layer:
• 8 ounces cream cheese
• 1 cup powdered sugar
• 1 (8-ounce) tub Cool Whip
• For the Pudding Layer:
• 1 (5.1-ounce) box instant chocolate pudding
• 3 1/2 cups milk
• For the Topping:
• 1 (8-ounce) tub Cool Whip

 Begin by crushing the oreos with a rolling pin in a ziplock bag. Put aside one half of the bag, and dump the rest into the bottom of a 9x13 pan.

 Drizzle melted butter over the oreos and press them into the pan. Make sure that all of the crumbs are moistened Put the pan in the fridge while you make the cream cheese layer.

Beat the cream cheese on medium speed until light and fluffy (3 minutes) 

 Turn down to medium-low and add the powdered sugar. Increase to medium and beat for 30 seconds.

 Fold in 8 oz. Cool Whip with a spatula.

 Spread cream cheese layer over the oreo layer. Refrigerate while you make the pudding.

 Whisk together the pudding and milk and spread over the cream cheese layer with an angled spatula.

 Top with the remaining Cool Whip and oreos.

Chill at least 2 hours before serving.

Field Trip to Belknap Mill By: Rus

Hi. I am Rus. I am going to tell you about my field trip to the Belknap Mill. First we went into a room were we dressed up in the clothes we would of worn in that mill in 1918. Our job in than t Mill was to make socks for the soldiers fighting in world war 1. The problem is that they were fighting in muddy ditches and desperately needed dry socks. We first went to the machine room were the machines would sew the sock completely except for the toes. Then it would go to the loopers who would turn the sock inside out so that they could sew it. Then it went to the turner boys who would turn the socks right side out. They were paid a penny for every 36 socks they turned right side out. Then it went to the steam room were they would steam the socks to get the wrinkles out of them. Then it went to the finisher who would check the sock and pack them up. Their was also the supervisor and the machine fixer. I was the supervisor and I had to make sure that everyone was doing their job correctly. The machine fixer would fix machines. We all got to try our jobs. Then mom and I went out to Wendys and got something to eat. This was a relay fun field trip.   

Painted Lady Butterflies

~Butterflies~

Most of you probably know that we have loved getting caterpillars from Insect Lore and watching them hatch into butterflies. I didn't get a lot of pictures from this round of butterflies, because we let them go earlier than we usually do and they were very fast fliers! Our first butterfly hatched! The rest are in chrysalises.

We fed them sugar water that we put on paper towels as well as some freshly sliced oranges.

We set them free after a few days.

If you look closely in the above picture, you can see the butterfly's proboscis rolled up underneath its head.

An Afternoon at the Park By: Siobhan

~An Afternoon at the Park~

What better way to enjoy a beautiful spring day than by going to the park with friends? We had such a fun afternoon at the park our cousins, Lydia and Elim. 

*Note: I'm not sure why the pictures got so blurry when I uploaded them. Hopefully I'll be able to fix them soon!

First we stopped at Cumby's for some slushies.

Elim has been coming over to do school at our house three days a week. Lux loves having her, as you can tell from the pictures. He calls her 'Lim.'

Rus is definitely our baseball star! Stay tuned for some more baseball pictures soon

I rarely get to take some more 'serious' pictures of Tert, but I love how these came out!

Spring Fun 2015 By: Siobhan

-Spring Fun-

Spring is finally here! It seems like it came overnight. It was a very long winter, and we are so glad to have some warm weather! Little Lux especially is loving being able to go outside. He loves slipping on his brothers' rainboots and following all of us around in the backyard.
